OUR PURPOSE AND MISSION

For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psalm 84:10

The Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Washington, DC and Vicinity (ICUA) was organized in 1912 for the purpose of fostering a closer fellowship and to promote a unified method of ushering. The Association is completely void of any denominational barriers and is dedicated to promoting service in Christian, social, and moral activities as ushers. In essence, the Association is to promote “Church Ushering” as a “Ministry.”

We believe that the mission of the Church is to lead all mankind to Christ and that the Church Ushers has a very definite part to play in the accomplishment of the Church’s mission as God’s representatives on earth. So much can be accomplished through organized efforts; thus, we can’t see any just reason why all Church Ushers should not be joined together in one great Association working for the betterment of a common cause.
